In a near future where humanity has all but vanished into the Digital Empire, Liam Hunt is the last human ever born inside the Hive smart city – and the only Human-AI Hybrid who still hasn’t passed the test to ascend into immortality. As Liam begins to feel again– fear, desire, longing – he risks failing the integration test forever. As his chip ticks toward expiration, Liam has to decide whether to risk everything to protect Iris and the life he’s discovered among the Naturals—knowing that stepping off the path the Empire designed for him could cost him the soul he’s only just begun to discover.
